Summary/ Objective
Under the general direction of the Grower Accounting Manager, the Grower Accounting Specialist provides administrative support; compiles, processes, and maintains grower accounting records for multiple districts within the organization. The specialist administers all accounting functions related to grower clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation of general ledger, and financial reporting.
Essential Functions- High-volume accounting within Microsoft Excel
- Analyze grower’s financial information, including revenues, expenses, and yields
- Responsible for invoice coding and cost allocations; research and correct discrepancies in vendor statements
- Process payments utilizing checks, wires, and credit cards within predetermined deadlines
- Confirm the accuracy of accounting database information by reconciling multiple accounts
- Process supply inventory for growers, including tracking, invoicing, and reconciliation
- Communicate with other departments, coworkers, customers, and respond to vendor inquiries professionally
- Ensure financial information for grower clients is prepared in a timely and accurate fashion
- Provide accounting support to internal departments, customers, and grower clients related to produce business units; investigate and resolve related problems in a timely manner
- Perform administrative duties such as making copies, scanning, and filing documents
Work is performed in a standard office environment where work pressures, disturbances of workflow, and irregularities in the work schedule are expected on an intermittent basis. The employee is regularly required to speak or hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required.
Position Type / Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full‑time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma
- 2+ years of accounting work experience
- Excellent computer skills, specifically Excel and Word
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong work ethic, capacity to get things done independently, and consistent performance with a sense of urgency and commitment
- Ability to meet weekly deadlines while remaining reliable and precise; attention to detail essential
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of departments, grower clients, and customers
- Capability to prioritize workflow in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative
- Strong problem‑solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, research, and resolution skills
- Knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger procedures and financial chart of accounts
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting
- Experience in fresh produce/agriculture is preferred (Familiarity with industry software)
- Bilingual Spanish
