Position OverviewUnder the supervision of the Director of Special Education, the Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher develops, adapts, and implements specialized physical education programs for students in the motor domain. The APE Teacher motivates students to build skills, confidence, and independence, while creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. This role requires collaboration with school teams and the use of diverse instructional techniques tailored to individual student abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement specialized physical education programs for students with motor domain needs.
- Motivate students to develop appropriate skills, attitudes, and knowledge.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students’ abilities.
- Collaborate with school teams to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records and evaluate student progress.
- California credential (Single Subject PE, Multiple Subject, Education Specialist).
- Adapted Physical Education (APE) authorization or ability to obtain.
- Three years of teaching experience (preferred).
- Experience working with special needs students in classroom or group settings (preferred).
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success.
- CPR certification, TB clearance, and health certificate as applicable.
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- District includes 17 elementary schools, 4 junior high schools, and 1 combined elementary/junior high school.

- Local: $55/hour
