FIGS is seeking a visionary Senior Designer to lead design across Outerwear and Lounge, driving innovation and creative excellence at every stage of the process. Reporting to the Director of Apparel Design, you’ll translate brand DNA into elevated, functional, and fashion-forward collections that empower healthcare professionals every day. As both a strategic thinker and hands‑on creative, you’ll shape FIGS’ design direction across core collections, seasonal capsules, and special projects.
Partnering closely with cross‑functional teams, you’ll ensure creative cohesion, product innovation, and a deep connection to the FIGS community — helping define the future of healthcare apparel.
- Lead the design of seasonal Outerwear & Lounge collections — technical outerwear (rain, insulation, fleece) and sweatshirting — blending innovation, modern style, and functional performance.
- Partner with the Director of Apparel Design and VP of Concept and Design to evolve fashion relevance and bring to life seasonal concepts that inspire and serve healthcare professionals.
- Research trends, materials, and market insights to inform fresh ideas and identify opportunities that elevate the FIGS brand.
- Design cohesive, premium collections that deliver on both brand vision and the real needs of healthcare professionals.
- Create and oversee technical sketches and spec packages for all designs.
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Raw Materials, Product Development, and Marketing to bring product from concept to creation with precision and impact.
- Lead fittings and provide thoughtful, solution-oriented feedback to ensure exceptional fit, comfort, and quality.
- Contribute to color, material, and trim direction in partnership with Raw Materials to meet quality, cost, and calendar goals.
- Manage design calendars, milestones, and handoffs to keep multiple projects on track and aligned.
- Mentor and inspire junior designers, fostering creativity, curiosity, and collaboration across the team.
- Partner with cross-category design teams to ensure a cohesive, elevated brand experience across all apparel lines.
- 8+ years of experience in apparel design, including at least 2 years leading or mentoring junior designers.
- Proven expertise across technical lifestyle apparel in wovens & knits.
- Strong command of silhouette, proportion, construction, and fit with hands‑on understanding of pattern making and technical detailing.
- Exceptional talent for concept development, color, and material innovation with a sharp, modern aesthetic.
- Experience driving full‑cycle design — from initial sketch and prototyping through final production.
- Confident visual communicator with excellent sketching, illustration, and presentation skills.
- Deep understanding of market trends, and adjacent categories to inform product direction.
- Passion for customer‑centric design and a deep respect for the healthcare professional community.
- Highly organized, solutions‑oriented, and comfortable thriving in a fast‑paced, growth‑driven environment.
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite; experience with 3D and AI‑assisted platforms a plus.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and cross‑functional design workflows.
- Strong leadership presence paired with a collaborative, team‑first, and optimistic mindset.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, egoless nature, and 100% awesome attitude.
- High level of integrity, initiative, and follow‑through.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Passion for design that makes a difference and elevates the lives of healthcare professionals.
