Position ObjectiveUnder the direction of the Administrator for Program, the Residence Manager is responsible for the management of their respective men’s residence facility and beneficiaries. As a Program team member, he/she promotes a climate for effective performance and learning through their attitudes, life experience, willingness to teach and learn, and availability to beneficiaries and staff. Encouragement is given to the incumbent to continue seeking training which will enhance his/her ability to work more effectively with beneficiaries.
High School graduate or equivalent (GED).
Program graduate with continuing involvement in a program of recovery is preferred but not required.
Ability to supervise beneficiaries as revealed by experience, training, and/or interview.
Possess a valid Driver’s License for state of employment with acceptable driving record required.
Integrity, resourcefulness, initiative, and evidence of self-improvement.
Demonstrate ability to support and apply the philosophy and goals of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Program as stated in the Mission Statement.
If chemically dependent, shall be free of and have had at least one year free of any chemical abuse or dependency.
Facility Management
Ensure proper maintenance of grounds and buildings; schedule needed repairs and maintenance work within guidelines provided by the Administrator for Program.
Provide routine supervision of residence desk (where applicable), canteen, laundry, and janitorial staff; train as needed in canteen operations, laundry operations, phone procedures, customer relations, and safety requirements.
Supervise inside and outside workers for special projects or repairs.
Order needed supplies for proper operation of the residence.
Beneficiary Supervision / Other
Provide orientation of new beneficiaries and communicate all program and residence requirements.
Assign rooms/beds including private rooms in accordance with set procedures; conduct random locker checks as required by review standards (minimum once per month).
Monitor, facilitate, and supervise beneficiary activities including prescription medications, house meetings, devotions, and updates to Personal Property Statements.
Provide short-term crisis counseling.
Provide recreational programming for residents; participate in all activities at the residence while maintaining open relationships with beneficiaries.
Supervise and/or administer Breathalyzer testing when requested by Program staff or upon beneficiary return.
Oversee urine specimen collection; ensure proper security procedures including labeling and transport.
Act as a role model for beneficiaries through personal conduct, appearance, and general behavior.
Prepare and submit ARCC-210 forms per current policies.
Make nightly security rounds.
Ensure fire drills are conducted and documented at least twice annually.
Maintain good order and discipline without favoritism per ARCC policies.
Discharge beneficiaries when appropriate.
Coordinate special facility events with the Administrator for Program (e.g., holidays, retreats, intern dinners).
Drive a Salvation Army passenger van to transport beneficiaries to/from Work Therapy Units (WTU), meetings, Chapel, and appointments.
Maintain necessary records and statistics as directed.
Coordinate vacation time with the Administrator for Program to ensure coverage.
Know ARC Safety Regulations for the residence and ensure compliance by staff and beneficiaries.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with policies and laws.
Obtain prior written approval for all overtime.
