Certified Nurse Midwife

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Work Location: Santa Monica, CA, USA
Work Schedule: 12 hour shifts, rotates days and nights including weekends and holidays; working at SM Hospital and RRMC as well as OB/GYN clinics as necessary
Salary Range: $83.25 - 119.28 Hourly

The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides full range of primary health care services for women. Responsibilities include primary care, gynecologic and family planning services, preconception care, care during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period in accordance with core competencies for basic midwifery practice adopted by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and California Board of Registered Nursing. The CNM will work at both Santa Monica Hospital and Ronald Reagan (Westwood).

• CA RN License – required
• Master’s level Nurse Midwifery program recognized and certified through the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and California Board of Registered Nursing – required
• CA NM license and ACNM Certification – required
• Nurse Midwife Furnishing Number – required
• BCLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Certification – required
• Minimum of 3 years experience as Labor and Delivery Nurse – required
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a CNM – required (3 years preferred)
• Ability to function under the Certified Nurse Midwife Practice Guidelines – required
• Skill in assessing patient care against prescribed standards – required
• Effective communication with diverse populations, using appropriate vocabulary – required
• Prioritizing assignments and managing workload – required
• Independently completing assignments with minimal supervision – required
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Epic preferred) – required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other software – required
• Collaborative working relationships with clinical and academic personnel – required
• Strong written communication skills – required
• Clear and comprehensive patient documentation – required
• CNM2 (Title Code 9564) – 6+ months experience as CNM – required
