Christiana Care Health System Student Nurse Externships
Christiana Care Health System Student Nurse Externships are offered to students enrolled in a nursing program and pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse. Students interested in applying must have completed at least one clinical rotation in an acute care setting.
Student Nurse Externs work 16 hours bi‑weekly and must also be available to work different shifts, holidays and weekends if necessary. The work environment is casual and the work schedules are flexible so students can continue uninterrupted with their studies.
To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled full‑time in an accredited nursing program and be pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The externship gives nursing students hands‑on experience and the opportunity to actually work in an acute care setting as a professional nurse.
The externship is offered by the Christiana Care Health System, a private non‑profit health‑care system that does medical research and provides medical care in the areas of cancer, heart care, women’s health, primary care and more.

New York‑Presbyterian Hospital Externships are for nursing students currently enrolled in a BSN program. Externships give students a chance to increase their skill set and prepare for a career in nursing. Externs will work in one of the world’s largest academic medical centers. They will work with physicians, allied professionals and other nurses in an environment where they can exchange ideas and increase their medical knowledge.
Positions are offered as a Nursing Attendant, Nursing Companion or Summer Nurse Externship. All are part‑time nursing positions for nursing students.
Banfield Pet Hospital Externships provide work opportunities for veterinary medicine students in a clinical setting. Students in their first to third years in veterinary school may apply. Veterinary students will receive hands‑on experience as well skill building. Externs will spend about 80 percent of their time on a veterinary team of assistants, and the other 20 percent working directly with their mentor.
Each extern will have a veterinary doctor as their guide throughout the externship.
UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program offers work experience to nursing students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of nursing school. The externship is unpaid. Externships are offered during the summer and take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA, and The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital licants can choose two specialty areas for their externship.
The externship is designed to help nursing students choose a career path in nursing.
American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) Externships are designed to provide a 2‑3 week work experience in laboratory animal medicine for veterinary medicine students. The externships are offered at several different host locations. Students may choose an externship at a university such as Johns Hopkins or Ohio State University, or they can complete their externship at a medical facility such as Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
Each externship will provide a placement that will match students’ interests and career goals.
Cornell Extern Program is open to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors from all undergraduate colleges. It is an opportunity for students to explore their career options while still in college. Winter externships are offered during January and February. Externships can last from one day to one week. Eligible students will find externships available in numerous career fields and geographic locations around the world.
The externships do not include pay or college credit. Students will be responsible for all expenses, including travel and housing.
