Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Charge Nurse to lead and support our nursing team on our 5MN Intermediate Care Unit in delivering exceptional patient care. As a key member of our clinical leadership, the Charge Nurse will oversee daily operations, coordinate patient care activities, and serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for fostering a collaborative and compassionate care environment.
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during assigned shifts.
- Ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care delivery by performing active daily management to oversee quality measures.
- Communicate with the interdisciplinary team by serving as a liaison between nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor patient flow, staffing levels, and resource allocation to ensure timely throughput.
- Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to nursing team members.
- Assist in onboarding and training new staff.
- Respond to emergencies and resolve issues as they arise.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Salary Range: $70.41 - $102.30 hourly
QualificationsWe’re seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated nursing professional with:
- Current California RN license required
- BSN or MSN required
- BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association required
- 2 years or greater of Step-down/Intermediate/Progressive Care RN experience required
- PCCN preferred
- ACLS preferred
- Advanced knowledge of cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions common in PCU settings
- Proficiency in interpreting telemetry, lab results, and diagnostic test
- Skilled in administering and titrating IV medications and managing complex patient care plans
- Ability to lead and supervise nursing staff during shifts
- Strong decision-making and prioritization skills in fast-paced environments
- Experience in delegating tasks effectively while maintaining accountability
- Excellent verbal and written communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- Ability to mentor and coach staff, fostering a supportive team culture
- Rapid assessment and response to changes in patient condition
- Effective triage and resource management during high-acuity situations
- Proactive in identifying workflow inefficiencies and implementing improvements
- Knowledge of hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, and state/federal regulations
- Commitment to infection control, patient safety, and documentation accuracy
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and bedside monitoring systems
- Familiarity with clinical decision support tools and nursing informatics
- Official Transcripts and/or original diploma from a registered nursing program must be provided upon hire
- Experience in a Magnet hospital preferred
