Overview
A Software Engineer I on the Advertising Applications team builds and maintains a variety of web applications used by both internal and external users. This full‑stack role covers front‑end technologies such as React, Redux, and Type Script, and back‑end technologies like Java/Spring. You will develop applications used across the company, collaborate with product managers, designers, QA, Dev Ops, and senior engineers, and contribute to code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Gum Gum fosters a flexible work environment, allowing employees to work in‑office or remotely. For occasional in‑person collaboration, we prefer candidates located within a commutable distance from our office.
What You’ll Achieve- Design, develop, and maintain new features and improvements for React web applications
- Develop and extend backend functionality with Java/Spring, including APIs
- Own scoped tasks and projects with minimal guidance
- Support senior engineers through the full project lifecycle, from conception to production release
- Collaborate with Dev Ops, Designers, and Product to optimize applications and devise creative solutions
- Improve best practices through code reviews and peer feedback
- Troubleshoot user‑reported issues and provide support
- Understand the advertising industry to inform technical decisions
- Create new web applications from the ground up when necessary
- Share knowledge through the technical blog and presentations
- Degree in Computer Science or related technical field (preferred)
- Experience shipping code to production
- 1+ year(s) of experience with React
- 1+ year(s) of experience with Java
- Proficiency in Git and command‑line tools
- Understanding of deployment pipelines and release processes
- Ability to prioritize tasks aligned with company goals
- Knowledge of SQL
- Familiarity with RESTful API concepts
The estimated base pay range for this role is $123,000–$142,500 annually. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
