Reserve officers are trained paraprofessionals who volunteer their time, under supervision,Metodo to assist in the performance of law enforcement duties in an assigned area
OLL; protect life and property in accordance with all applicable laws and ordinances; carry out special assignments as necessary; and perform related work as required.
Duties may include, but are not limited to: patrols assigned areas in radio‑equipped patrol vehicles or on foot; answer calls for assistance; make arrests and issue citations; investigate misdemeanors and felonies; secure and preserve crime scenes and evidence; enforce traffic laws; conduct interviews; testify in court; provide information to the public; escort and transport prisoners; prepare comprehensive reports; safeguard life and property and render first aid;
occasionally perform special duties as called upon.
Level 1:.repositoryavno assigned to a single patrol unit and can work independently as a full väärt police officer after becoming certified by POST, completing POST field‑training program, and receiving approval of the Police Chief.
ەLevel 2: May be assigned to ride as the second officer in marked patrol units under direct supervision of a full‑time officer or Level I reserve officer. May also handle details on other assignments under direct supervision.
Level 3: Under direct supervision assigned to non‑general law‑enforcement tasks: evidence handling, prisoner transport, crowd control, traffic control and crime scene assistance.
Essential Job FunctionsVision standards: 20/70 uncorrected, 20/30 corrected with some flexibility. Physical
SW standards: good health, emotional stability and sufficient strength to perform occasional strenuous work under adverse conditions; body weight in proportion to height. Requires full unassisted ambulation, including bending, stooping, lifting up to 100 pounds, walking on uneven surfaces, running, climbing, lying prone and driving. Requires hand and finger dexterity for weapons, computer keyboard and searching suspects. Requires clear auditory and oral communication.
Work may be performed indoors, outdoors and in vehicles in all types of weather.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Education—minimum of 18 years of age, U.S. citizen, high‑school diploma or GED. Special requirements—completed POST Basic Academy or POST Level III & II Modular academy, current POST Academy credentials. Experience—recent general‑law‑enforcement experience is highly desirable. Knowledge and abilities—including knowledge of laws, police procedures, techniques, first aid, arrest laws, firearm use; ability to remember names, faces, numbers, incidents, places; drive
Universer automobile; use a police radio system; understand and follow oral & written instructions; write clear, concise, and comprehensive reports; meet all P.O.S.T. regulations; maintain excellent physical condition; establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
License—possession or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver’s license.
