Position Overview and Responsibilities

Eden Gardens State Park is looking for a self‑motivated park service professional to provide visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management. The applicant must have good visitor service skills, be able to work independently, and perform skilled trade functions using assorted equipment and tools. The applicant must be willing to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compliance with processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S.
  • Visitor Services:
    Explain facilities and services, greet visitors, answer questions, resolve complaints, and provide interpretive programs through tours and walks.
  • Resource Management:
    Manage annual exotic plant removal goals, conduct surveys, and implement resource management objectives.
  • Maintenance:
    Maintain structures, facilities, equipment, and grounds; conduct routine inspections; keep grounds clean; and clean restrooms and park areas.
  • Administration:
    Prepare reports, operate radio equipment, maintain logs, process cash funds, and perform computer/cash register transactions and reconciliation.
  • Protection:
    Ensure adherence to the Park Protection Plan and interpret park rules for safety and visitor enjoyment.
  • Other:
    Perform related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge Of
  • Assorted power/gas tools and equipment for physical labor.
  • Computer and cash register transactions and reconciliation.
  • Public relations skills effective with people.
Skill In
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Operating a cash register and reconciling receipts.
  • Accurate report preparation.
  • Grounds and building maintenance, including mowing, weed eating, pressure washing, and painting.
  • Power tools such as chainsaws and drills.
  • Basic plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability To
  • Identify and investigate problems.
  • Understand and apply rules, directives, laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Perform skilled trade functions.
  • Conduct interpretive programs and services.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Work with others.
  • Open and close park gate and secure facilities.
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Complete ranger academy.
  • Complete background and fingerprint check.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Successful completion of Ranger Academy (One week, Orlando).
Pay

$2,896.67 month / $34,760.00 annual

The park covers approximately 163 acres, offering ornamental gardens, picnic pavilions, restrooms, a 1‑mile hiking trail, and rental facilities. Resource management includes invasive plant removal and cultural resource facility maintenance.
