ROLE SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Dental Director, Dentist, or Lead RDA, the Registered Dental Assistant assists the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in providing primary care dental services to patients. Responsibilities include acting as the chair‑side assistant, preparing the operatory, exposing and developing dental radiographs, ensuring accurate patient record documentation, and performing sterilization and infection control of instruments and supplies.
SPECIFIC TASKS & DUTIES- Serve as the provider’s chair‑side assistant.
- Prepare the operatory per department protocols and provider directions.
- Takes digital radiographs in accordance with state regulations and department directives.
- Perform independent procedures delegated by the dentist, following certification and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain equipment and areas per manufacturer’s directions and department policy.
- Manage operatory supplies, report shortages, and assist with inventory control.
- Assist in thorough completion of patient records and document filing.
- Support clinical and administrative functions as needed.
- Ensure proper disposal of materials per department directive and regulations.
- Comply with the Exposure Control Plan, including PPE and universal precautions.
- Participate in patient CAMBRA and oral hygiene education sessions.
- Engage in ongoing training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Current California state Registered Dental Assistant Certification.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- BLS (CPR) Certification.
- Accredited course completion in dental assisting and minimum one year experience.
- Coronal polish and sealant certificates.
- Bilingual English & Spanish.
- California Radiation Safety Certificate.
- Comprehensive primary dental care knowledge in outpatient settings.
- Computer literacy; familiarity with Dentrix and Microsoft Windows.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication in English and preferred Spanish.
- Sensitivity to multicultural, low‑income populations and strong people skills.
