Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications on a continuous basis to establish a pool for associate faculty assignments. Assignments may be temporary, part‑time, on‑call, immediate or as needed. The Sonoma County Junior College District does not offer remote‑only assignments. Compensation and benefits are provided on a part‑time, hourly basis. A part‑time faculty assignment may not exceed 67% of a full‑time annual assignment.
Starting hourly rate is based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience (depending on discipline) as documented in application materials. Initial step placement is at Step 1 pending evaluation of experience as outlined in the AFA Contract Article 27. Compensation for classes is paid over the duration of the assignment. The District offers medical insurance, sick leave accrual, and retirement options (CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance, Social Security).

- Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online, hybrid and/or off‑campus assignments.
- Offer academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
- Focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services.
- Participate in district or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees for additional compensation (not required by default).
If a department has an immediate need, applications are reviewed immediately; otherwise, they remain in the queue for up to one year. Selected candidates are invited to interview with a screening and interviewing committee. Candidates not immediately assigned remain in the pool for four years.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS- Completed Santa Rosa Junior College/ employment application and responses to agency‑wide questions.
- Contact information (phone number and email address) for three professional references, one of which must be from a current or previous supervisor.
- Brief cover letter.
- Current resume.
- Written response to the diversity prompt (200–500 words) detailing two or three examples of ideas or experiences that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Copies of transcripts of all college‑level coursework stating degree conferral. International transcripts require a formal evaluation by a credential evaluation service accredited by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
- If applicable, a copy of the California Community College Credential (both sides).
- Any additional required documentation specified for candidates who do not possess the minimum qualifications.
Successful applicants must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States and complete a background check, Live Scan, and tuberculosis screening. Candidates must be willing to work on‑site as determined by the department and may request accommodations by contacting the Office of Human Resources. The district will not sponsor any visa applications.
