JOB DESCRIPTION
The Electrical Estimator will exercise discretion and independent judgment to estimate project costs, gather details and compile data to estimate all production costs per specifications, drawings, and prior experience. Responsible to consider all raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation for estimations. Identifies necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITSTotal compensation for the Electrical Estimator is between $100,000 and $175,000 depending on experience.

- Independently review plans and specifications
- Check plans for errors or omissions
- Determine required suppliers and sub-contractors
- Coordinate with purchasing agent to attain vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Determine quantity of labor hours needed for each estimate
- Review incoming supplier and sub-contractor quotes
- Make recommendation to bid or not to bid after independent research has been considered and the opportunity has been put through the bid filter
- Responsible to enter accurate information
- Identify and manage discussions with potential allies
- Independently perform Bid Walks
- Review bid with Chief Estimator, Project Manager and/or Department Manager
- Independently supervise Bid generation
- Conduct Hand Off Meeting with Project Manager upon award
- Review, compare and utilize existing project cost data in generating bid
- Responsible to ensure all Bids are completed utilizing the most efficient job methods available
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and customers to collect any industry news
- Advise and consult with customers as required to assist in estimating future workload
- Collect post bid debriefing with customer
- Assumes additional tasks assigned by senior management or which are logically inherent to this position
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating
- Knowledge of project estimation, project management, and commercial/industrial construction
- Knowledge of NEC and local codes and requirements
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Analytical, problem‑solving mentality
- Team player, self‑motivated, gets along well with supervisors, peers, and subordinates
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Experience with Estimating Software
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Flexible and adaptable; ability to work in a team environment and initiative to work alone
Monday through Friday, normal business hours. Overtime and/or weekend work may be required depending on workload.
PREFERRED BUT NOT NECESSARY- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred, but not required
- Journeyman or Master Electrician's license
