Responsibilities

The Precision Meso-scale Technology Center (PMTC) provides the high-precision mechanical solutions that enable Keysight’s industry-leading RF, microwave, mmWave, and 5G/6G solutions in various industries, including AI infrastructure, communications, aerospace & defense, automotive & energy, and semiconductor industries measurement equipment.

Responsibilities:

PMTC is forming a Product Engineering team, and this role is at our Headquarters in Santa Rosa, CA. The Product Engineer owns a mechanical product family end-to-end, and acts as a vital link between the NPI team, process engineering, metrology team, and the Keysight product line. We’re looking for a self‑driven and proactive engineer who takes strong ownership of their work and consistently drives projects to completion.

The ideal candidate communicates clearly and effectively, partners well with customers, operations, and cross‑functional engineering teams, and is comfortable facilitating technical discussions among diverse stakeholders. This role requires sound judgment, strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

The primary responsibilities of a PMTC Product Engineer include:

Product-level yield monitoring and improvement
  • Own product-family yield end to end: first-pass yield, scrap, rework and cost of poor quality across all process blocks, and work with the process engineering team to implement and monitor SPC on critical-to-quality features.
  • Pareto and attack the top losses. Lead cross-process RCCA (8D, DMAIC) when a failure spans more than one block; accept NPI-to-production handoff from Integration Engineering and own yield maturation to target.
Product quality ownership
  • Accountable for conformance to drawing, GD&T and customer intent from first article through sustaining production (AS9100 / ISO 9001): lead NCM / MRB disposition and containment, drive CAR / CAPA to closure.
  • Initiate and own ER / waiver and deviation requests through approval and provide DFM / inspectability feedback on new drawings and revision changes.
Product support and customer interface
  • Be the single point of contact for your product family for Keysight product lines and R&D: technical questions, quality events, recovery plans. Give early, factual notice when yield or quality will affect delivery.
  • Own the product-family knowledge and capability. Maintain the knowledge base (critical features, failure modes, approved waivers, lessons learned); own production OSP qualification.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in precision machining or precision mechanical component manufacturing in a product, quality, manufacturing or sustaining engineering role.
  • Working command of GD&T and of how machined features are measured (CMM, optical, surface profilometry); you can read a drawing and tell whether the inspection plan can…
