Job Description & How to Apply Below
MMIC Design Engineer – Millimeter-Wave Integrated Circuits

Location:

Santa Rosa, California

Employment Type:

Full-Time

Work Arrangement:
Fully on-site — 5 days per week

Experience

Required:

4+ years of relevant MMIC design experience

Minimum Education:

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field

Work Authorization:
Must be a U.S. Person — U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident

The ideal candidate is an RF/microwave or semiconductor design engineer with advanced academic training and hands‑on experience designing and validating millimeter‑wave integrated circuits.

The candidate must have completed a full MMIC development cycle, including circuit design, physical layout, DRC/LVS verification, and measurement validation. Experience with multiple circuit types operating above 30 GHz is essential.

Candidates with experience in advanced semiconductor processes, wafer‑level measurements, electromagnetic simulation, device modeling, and high‑power MMICs will be especially competitive.

Critical eligibility requirement:
The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident and available to work on‑site five days a week in Santa Rosa, California.

The MMIC Design Engineer will design, lay out, characterize, and validate high‑performance millimeter‑wave monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) used in next‑generation electronic measurement instruments.

This role requires advanced knowledge of RF and microwave circuit design, semiconductor device behavior, transistor‑and diode‑level design, physical layout, design verification, and measurement validation.

The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and internal customers to translate system‑level requirements into circuit specifications, select appropriate semiconductor processes, and deliver high‑performance integrated circuit designs.

The position offers opportunities to work on advanced millimeter‑wave technologies, optimize circuit performance beyond conventional process limitations, and contribute to demanding product development programs.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Thesis work and/or relevant professional experience in millimeter‑wave integrated circuit design.
  • At least 4 years of relevant mm-wave IC design experience, including qualifying graduate research where applicable.
  • Experience with advanced semiconductor technologies for high‑frequency circuit design.
  • Demonstrated experience completing at least one design cycle involving:
    • Transistor- or diode‑level circuit design.
    • Physical IC layout.
    • Design verification, including DRC and LVS.
    • Measurement‑based validation of fabricated designs.
  • Experience designing multiple types of millimeter‑wave circuits, such as amplifiers, mixers, frequency multipliers, or filters operating above 30 GHz.
  • Ability to analyze device parasitics and understand semiconductor process limitations.
  • Strong technical documentation, presentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving, time‑management, and project execution abilities.
  • Ability to work on‑site in Santa Rosa, California, five days per week.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing high‑power MMICs, particularly circuits delivering more than +30 dBm.
  • Experience in system‑level analysis and performance optimization.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device modeling.
  • Experience with thermal design and IC package design.
  • Experience with wafer probing, probe calibration, and high‑frequency measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of thin‑film technologies and printed circuit board (PCB) design.
  • Experience with Keysight ADS, Momentum, EMPro, System Vue, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with advanced semiconductor fabrication processes and high‑frequency device characteristics.
  • Experience collaborating with device modeling, process engineering, and package development teams.
Technical Skills
  • Millimeter-wave (mm-wave) IC design above 30 GHz.
  • RF and microwave circuit design.
  • Transistor- and diode-level design.
  • MMIC physical layout.
  • DRC and LVS verification.
  • High-frequency measurement and design validation.
