The Analytical / Formulation Technician is a cross‑functional, hands‑on role that supports analytical testing, powder formulation, and manufacturing operations for a multi‑SKU pressed tablet product line. This role bridges laboratory and production environments, working across internal systems and off‑site facilities to ensure consistency, precision, and product integrity.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a dynamic, detail‑oriented environment, and brings analytical experience instrumentation workflows and SOPs. This person will play a critical role in both HQ and remote operations — supporting core R&D and manufacturing execution in‑state and traveling production sites.

Key Responsibilities Analytical Testing and Manufacturing
  • Perform testing on cannabis and formulation inputs using HPLC, FT‑NIR, and GC‑MS
  • Prepare samples for analysis: headspace, direct injection, and standard prep
  • Carry out all steps of sample handling: collection, labeling, filtration, dilution, and loading
  • Maintain electronic logs and organize sample metadata for traceability
  • Conduct method initialization, instrument calibration, and test execution
  • Execute routine preventive maintenance, troubleshoot common errors, and assist in minor repairs
  • Manage lab infrastructure (buffer prep, gas cylinders, instrument care)
  • Analyze instrument output and prepare basic reports for internal stakeholders
Powder Formulation and Tablet Manufacturing
  • Handle cannabis material (distillate, isolate, minor cannabinoids) and input powders
  • Perform bulk powder formulation, blending, and active SKU‑specific batching
  • Apply GMP‑aligned workflows with pharmaceutical‑style sanitary practices
  • Execute and verify formulation batches with a focus on precision and reproducibility
  • Collaborate with R&D and production to improve manufacturability, throughput, and batch quality
Travel
  • Travel 9–11 weeks per year, typically in 1‑week increments (subject to change and must be flexible)
  • Act as on‑site technical lead during off‑site manufacturing runs
  • Execute formulation and manufacturing workflows across all active SKUs
  • Set up, validate, and operate analytical and manufacturing equipment in remote environments
  • Run in‑process analytical testing to inform batch adjustments and product decisions
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes in coordination with HQ
Inventory Control and Quality Support
  • Manage intake of cannabis raw materials and integrate them into internal inventory systems
  • Prepare and coordinate samples for third‑party compliance testing
  • Conduct weekly inventory checks and scheduled full counts
  • Monitor lab and manufacturing stock levels; coordinate purchasing with local vendors
  • Maintain organization and compliance documentation for lab consumables and active materials
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Background in analytical chemistry, manufacturing science, or cannabis operations preferred
  • At least one year experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Strong attention to detail; must be comfortable following SOPs and maintaining clean records
  • Hands‑on experience with analytical equipment a plus, but not required
  • Comfortable working independently in both lab and production settings
  • Ability to travel several weeks per year with changing travel schedule
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
  • Must pass state and federal background checks
  • Valid Drivers License and reliable transportation
