The Labor and Delivery nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care in the L&D Setting. The Labor and Delivery nurse demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision.
The labor and delivery nurse works with Mothers during the final stages of pregnancy helping with birthing, monitoring the Mother’s vital signs, and becoming astute in signs and symptoms of possible complications. The labor and delivery nurse is involved in patient education and addressing the psychosocial needs of Mothers after delivery and demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care.
Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice.?
- One year of Labor and Delivery clinical experience within the last three years preferred.?
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Location: Santa Rosa, California
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: January 26, 2026
Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekly Pay: $3,549/week
- $1,848 taxable
- $1,701 stipends
Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for an exciting travel opportunity in Santa Rosa, CA. This contract is ideal for L&D nurses who thrive in high-acuity settings and want to experience the charm, beauty, and culture of California’s wine country.
Required QualificationsTo qualify for submission, candidates must have:
- 1 year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent L&D experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Active RN License (in the state where care is provided)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
While not required, the following will strengthen your profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field
- 5+ years of recent L&D experience (must have occurred within the last 2 years)
- 1 year of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience within the last 2 years
- High-Risk OB experience strongly preferred
- Provide comprehensive care to laboring, delivering, and postpartum mothers
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and obstetrical emergencies
- Monitor fetal and maternal vital signs
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, and multidisciplinary team members
- Maintain accurate documentation and deliver evidence-based care
- 13-week assignment
