Position Information
Welcome to the Nurse-Family Partnership Home Visiting Program. We are hiring a Bilingual Public Health Nurse II to serve as a primary health and parenting educator for families in the first two years of their children’s lives.
Start Salary
Up to $73.28/hour ($152,944/year), a competitive total compensation package, plus a fluent bilingual premium of $1.50/hour.
Qualifications
• California State Public Health Nursing Certificate
• One year of public‑health nursing experience after receiving the certificate
• Valid driver’s license (may include special endorsements)
• Fluent English and Spanish (reading, writing, conversational)
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct home visits (or at client‑chosen locations) to deliver health care, breastfeeding, child development, and nutrition education.
- Perform routine comprehensive assessments and develop individualized action plans.
- Coordinate and follow up on referrals to health and social service providers and partner with local agencies.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of all client interactions, assessments, action plans, and referrals.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and outreach activities (e.g., NICU rounds).
- Manage a caseload of approximately 25 primary clients and their children.
- Travel throughout the field to meet families at homes, parks, libraries, or other indoor/outdoor locations.
Skills & Experience Desired
- Maternal‑child nursing knowledge and/or experience
- Experience in community, clinic, or public‑health settings
- Trauma‑informed practices, understanding of substance use, homelessness, mental health, and intergenerational trauma
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multi‑disciplinary team
- Previous experience as a Nurse Home Visitor, Public Health Nurse, or similar
- Interest in fieldwork and working with culturally diverse families
- Respectful, client‑centered relationship building
- Openness to continual learning
