Position Information

Grow your career as a Victim Witness Advocate II in the District Attorney's Office. Salary up to $47.33 per hour (approximately $98,783 annually) and a competitive total compensation package.

We are recruiting for an ongoing Victim Witness Advocate I position and a time‑limited Victim Witness Advocate II position funded through March 31, 2026. Candidates must apply through the appropriate recruitment for their desired level.

Responsibilities
  • Manage an independent caseload of victims.
  • Advocate for victims and individuals experiencing crisis situations.
  • Prioritize multiple assignments in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Observe and listen to the needs of the victim.
  • Engage with a diverse population, under‑served communities, and immigrants.
  • Represent the division at community events and outreach activities.
Ideal Candidate
  • Multiple years of experience working with crime victims.
  • Background in Social and Behavioral studies, Sociology, Psychology, or related fields.
  • Experience with high‑trauma and crisis situations.
  • Experience working with diverse socio‑economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Understanding of cultural competence and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of Latin American and Asian American Pacific Islander cultural practices and history.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Mandarin, English/Korean, English/Punjabi, English/Triki, or English/Polynesian) preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of public contact experience in law enforcement, counseling, or a related public or private agency.
  • Familiarity with the criminal justice process.
  • Relevant coursework in sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, criminology, or a closely related field.
  • Valid California driver’s license and required endorsements.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation.
Background and Application Process

Applicants must complete a 40‑hour advocate training program, shadowing, and outreach events. The position requires work on weekends and after normal business hours as needed. Applications must include a supplemental questionnaire and will be evaluated using an Application and Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination (100% weight).
