Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Greet, engage, and assist customers visibly and actively.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, coupons, and loyalty offers according to company policy.
• Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and work honestly to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs.
• Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product questions.
• Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts cooperatively and non-confrontationally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience
• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
