Operations Manager, General Management
Overview
Responsible for directing the daily outbound operations of the shipping/loading department within a distribution center.
Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of the shipping/loading department.
- Assist in ensuring that the department is compliant with company operations, policies, and procedures on a daily basis.
- Work with the operations and DC managers to maintain payroll figures, budgeting, productivity, etc. within the departments.
- Responsible for performing scheduled evaluations on team members.
- Provide leadership, training, and guidance throughout the department and work to ensure productivity and morale are maintained at a high level.
- Work with managers to establish annual goals and the plan to follow for accomplishing these goals.
- Work closely with the human resources supervisor and the operations manager to ensure effective recruiting, hiring, and training practices.
- Assist the operations and DC managers with planning to prepare annual capital expenditure listing for budgeting purposes.
- Work with operations and DC managers for approval on any expenditure for the department.
- Maintain safety standards while operating and identify unsafe practices and situations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Excellent leadership abilities with a focus on customer service
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and match numerical and alpha characters quickly and accurately
- Basic computer skills
- Desired:
- College degree or logistics certification
- 2+ years previous supervisory experience
- Advanced computer skills
- Completion of O'Reilly supervisor training program
- Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
