Overview
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer for our Sarasota office. As part of our design and process teams, you will be involved with a wide range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This will encompass all phases of design, including conceptual/feasibility evaluations, project management, preparation of design reports, permitting, development of construction drawings and specifications, and support of construction services.

- Lead and/or support planning, design, permitting, and construction of water and wastewater-related projects including pumping, piping, and treatment facilities.
- Coordination with internal technical specialists in all practice areas and discipline design professionals for project delivery.
- Support coordination and collaboration with clients
- Working with interdisciplinary teams to effectively meet the client’s needs
- Support preparation of proposals and presentations
- Fieldwork and site visits from planning through construction may be required with occasional travel
- B.S. degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
- Florida PE license (ability to obtain reciprocity within six months of employment)
- 7-14 years of experience in the field of wastewater-related infrastructure, including project engineering/management (planning, design, and construction)
- Experience in successfully delivering supporting projects spanning multiple years in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
- Proficient in all MS Office based computer software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Self-starter with attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be capable of presenting complex issues to nontechnical people
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Civil/Environmental Engineering
