Overview
We are hiring full-time night shift Registered Nurses for the Pediatrics and Women’s Med/Surg unit at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. The unit provides specialized care to adult female patients and pediatric patients with complex medical needs. There is an opportunity for cross-training to work with both populations and for career advancement.
Job DescriptionProvides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA’s Standards of Professional Practice. The role supports patient populations including neonatal through pediatric ages and adult female patients in OB/GYN medical and surgical care.
Responsibilities- Deliver holistic, evidence-based nursing care to pediatric and adult female patients, with emphasis on OBGYN medical and surgical care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in collaboration with the health care team
- Provide patient and family education and support
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including Charge Nurse, Lead Pediatric Nurse, Pediatric Hospitalist, Pediatric Intervention RN, Child Life Specialist, Clinical Pharmacist, Case Manager, and support staff
- Cross-train to support both Pediatric and Women’s Medical-Surgical populations as needed
- Participate in unit-based and hospital-wide committees as applicable
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within three (3) months of hire; 6–9 months for new graduates, maintained throughout employment
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN required within five (5) years of hire for new hires as of 2023)
- Certified Breastfeeding Counselor within six (6) months of hire (hospital grant funded)
- Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications
- Florida RN nursing license
- Mandatory: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing)
- Preferred: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
