Campus Safety Officer-Substitute

Overview

Campus Safety Officer - Substitute at The Out-of-Door Academy. The role supports the Director of Health & Safety and contributes to a safe campus environment across multiple sites on Siesta Key, Lakewood Ranch and Clark Road.

• Provide safety and security services while on duty at any of the school campuses located on Siesta Key, Lakewood Ranch and Clark Road. Coverage may be for days, afternoons, evenings or weekends.
• Ensure a safe learning environment for the school’s students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors through high visibility and/or CCTV monitoring.
• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic while enforcing parking regulations on campus.
• Support the Director of Health & Safety (DoHS) and Campus Safety Officers with campus/building security.
• Screen and authorize vehicles, guests, and vendors entering campus to ensure safety and security.
• Investigate and prepare reports on incidents and accidents on ODA campus related to students and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School degree required.
• At least three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, public safety or the military. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
• Current Florida “D” (Guard) License and “G” (Gun) License required. Weapons qualification under HR 218, the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) is preferred, but does not take the place of the required FL licensure.
• Current CPR, First Aid and AED certification or ability to obtain before an offer of employment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to write reports and routine correspondence.
• Preferred NASRO basic School Resource Officer certification or equivalent.

This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Shift and hours availability may vary depending on the school’s needs. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience.
