Position: Assistant Teaching Professor, GIS Center for Interdisciplinary Research
Summary:

Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position as manager of the GIS Center for Interdisciplinary Research beginning August 1, 2027. This is an initial 3-year appointment period and renewable. This position is 11-months per year. Responsibilities:
Teaches 3 sections of Introduction to GIS and one section of Advanced GIS Assists with the development of the GIS Center Supports faculty research and curriculum development Stewards the Center’s GIS software, data, and learning resources in partnership with relevant campus units.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in GIS, geography, spatial data science, or related field required. Minimum of five years' experience in GIS, spatial analysis, or related field. Preferred:
PhD in relevant field Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate students Leadership and supervisory experience

Competencies:

Expertise in GIS technologies, spatial analysis, and data visualization Proficiency with ESRI and related GIS platforms Ability to collaborate across disciplines and build partnerships Excellent communication skills (presenting, training, consulting) Strategic thinking and program development capabilities Ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences Application Instructions:
