The Nutrition Services Worker supports food service activities at the assigned location, preparing and serving food items to students and/or school personnel and maintaining safe and sanitary facilities.
Essential Functions- Arranges food and beverage items at the request and direction of supervisors for efficient service.
- Attends unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. to gather information required to perform job functions.
- Cleans utensils, equipment, and storage, food preparation and serving areas for maintaining required sanitary conditions.
- Cook food to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
- Estimates food preparation amounts and adjusts recipes as needed to meet projected meal requirements and minimize waste.
- Inspects food items and supplies to verify quantity, quality and specifications and comply with mandated health standards.
- Inventory food, condiments, supplies and equipment at specified intervals to ensure availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
- Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition to comply with current health standards.
- Monitors kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
- Performs functions of other nutritional services positions as requested by supervisor to ensure adequate staff coverage within site nutritional services operations.
- Prepare food and beverage items (e.g., breakfast and lunch) to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
- Report equipment malfunctions to notify supervisor of the need for repair and/or replacement.
- Serve one or more items of food to meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Age 16+
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job‑related experience desired.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and push/pull up to 150 lbs repeatedly throughout a work day.
