Vice Chancellor, Information & Educational Technology

Definition: The West Valley-Mission Community College District seeks a talented individual to fill the position of Vice Chancellor, Information & Educational Technology. The Vice Chancellor will serve as an executive officer responsible for the operation of a major district-wide function, administer and manage information systems and educational technology functions, participate in district policy making, and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Chancellor.

Assignment

This is an executive position with an anticipated start date of April 2026. The position is exempt and is not subject to overtime.

Work Location: District Information Systems Office located at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA

Salary and Benefits

Salary: Anticipated Hiring Range: $345,251 annually (Executive Compensation Base Salary Schedule).

Benefits:

  • Additional compensation: $2,000 for doctorate added to base salary annually, prorated monthly.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in developing technology systems in a large organization, with at least four years in administrative and management responsibility.
  • Equivalent to a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, major coursework in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field.
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of information technology for both administrative and instructional systems and its application in higher education.
  • Enterprise-wide applications, infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, physical and cyber security, integration, systems, and database administration.
  • Principles and practices of leadership, efficient methods, conflict resolution, and team building.
  • Pertinent local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Organizational and management practices for IT functions and programs.
  • Customer service, organization, administration, and personnel management.
  • IT system management and vision relating to budget preparation and administration.

Ability to:

  • Plan, direct, and control the administration and operations of the information and educational technology division.
  • Analyze budgets and technical reports; interpret and evaluate staff reports and documents.
  • Perform repetitive tasks requiring fine manipulation, use of telephone, keyboard, and lifting or carrying ≤10 lbs.
  • Promote a student-centered culture ensuring access and educational excellence.
  • Prepare and administer budgets; develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Acquire cooperation through discussion and persuasion; analyze problems and implement recommendations.
  • Interpret and apply state and federal laws, district and division policies.
  • Select, supervise, train, counsel, discipline, and evaluate staff.
  • Use modern office equipment, including computers and software.
  • Maintain regular attendance and follow prescribed work schedule.
  • Utilize safety procedures and practices for assigned duties.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
