Position: Community Personal Support Worker ON (South)

Location & Schedule

Location:

Sarnia (South) – rural areas including Corunna, Mooretown, Courtright, Sombra, Wilksport, Port Lambton, Petrolia, Brigden, Oil Springs, Inwood, Alvinston, and Watford.

Schedule:

Casual. Type of work:
Evenings (2 pm–10 pm) and weekends (2 weekends a month). Days (6 am–2 pm) also available. Hourly rate: $21.50 to $26.50.

Role Overview

Carecor is seeking dedicated and compassionate Community Personal Support Workers to join our community care team. In this role, you will travel to clients’ homes to provide high‑quality personal care and support, empowering individuals to live safely and independently in their own environment. You will assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, toileting, medication reminders, light housekeeping, meal preparation, companionship, and emotional support.

Your work will involve following individualized care plans, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating key observations to supervisors or care coordinators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care service according to directions on the established care plan or assignment sheet, ensuring emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients.
  • Perform care within the provincial scope of practice, including skin care, hair care, mouth care, bathing, bowel and bladder care, positioning and movement, exercise, basic wound care, feeding, special diets, oxygen administration, and medication reminders.
  • Carry out specialized, client‑specific procedures for which recognized training and current competence can be demonstrated.
  • Observe and document client conditions, report unusual events or changes to the immediate supervisor or office.
  • Understand and implement infection prevention practices.
  • Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.
  • Adhere to Bayshore policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in line with the company’s Quality Management System.
  • Engage in proactive health & safety activities and report any risks or concerns to the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discuss only with appropriate personnel.
  • Complete other tasks as requested.
Qualifications
  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or enrollment in a nursing pathway program or nursing student.
  • CPI Certification (Crisis Prevention & Intervention Training Certificate) – preferred.
  • Clinical experience as a PSW within the past 2 years.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and N95 mask fit test certificate.
  • Proof of current immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (MMRV), Hepatitis B, and Tdap/Td.
  • Proof of negative TB skin test within the past year or negative chest x‑ray within the past 5 years.
  • Willingness to undergo Vulnerable Sector Police Check as a condition of hire.

Note:

Healthcare workers are required to provide proof of full COVID‑19 vaccination prior to start date.
