School Shift Nurse (Day Shifts) - Supporting Pediatric Clients

Schedule: Monday to Friday school‑day shifts, approximately 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

Location: Home pick‑up and drop‑off:
Kettle Point, ON. School location:
Forest, ON. Transportation is by school bus; the nurse must accompany the client at all times.

This role is ideal for compassionate nurses who enjoy working with pediatric clients and providing consistent support in both home and school environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arrive at the client's home in Kettle Point by 7:00 AM to assist with morning preparations for the school day.
  • Ensure all care needs are completed before departure, including feeding, securing necessary medical equipment, and preparing suction supplies.
  • Accompany the client on the school bus to and from school.
  • Provide nursing support throughout the school day.
  • Ride the bus back to the client’s home at the end of the school day, with an expected return time of approximately 3:00 PM.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide client care using observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching.
  • Act as nurse in charge in the care setting and, if required, report to the immediate supervisor.
  • Deliver care according to the established care plan, ensuring emotional, spiritual, physical comfort, and safety.
  • Perform routine nursing duties in line with company policies, provincial standards, and the scope of practice of a Licensed/Registered Practical Nurse.
  • Perform specialized nursing procedures with recognized training and current competency.
  • Observe and document client conditions and changes following proper standards.
  • Implement infection prevention practices.
  • Participate in ongoing continuing education activities.
  • Adhere to Bay Sphere policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in proactive Health & Safety activities; notify supervisor of any risks or concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information; discuss only with appropriate personnel.
  • Complete additional tasks as requested.
Education & Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited/recognized School of Nursing (evidence required).
  • Current RPN or LPN registration in good standing with the applicable provincial licensing body.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
  • Required background checks: clear criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening, proof of being TB free, and two supervisory references.
  • Vaccination proof against applicable illnesses may be required per provincial regulations.
