Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant Site Superintendent, you will support day‑to‑day construction operations by coordinating trades, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects remain on schedule and within scope.

Site Coordination & Trade Management
  • Support the Site Superintendent in overseeing daily site operations and coordinating construction activities.
  • Help manage subcontractor performance, identifying issues early and escalating concerns when required.
  • Coordinate workflow between trades to prevent delays, conflicts, and inefficiencies on site.
  • Ensure materials, tools, and work areas are organized to maintain a safe and productive job site.
Quality Control & Inspections
  • Conduct regular site walkthroughs to monitor progress and identify quality concerns early.
  • Review completed work to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and building standards.
  • Track deficiencies and support corrective actions to ensure timely resolution before inspections and hand over.
  • Assist in maintaining high-quality standards throughout all phases of construction.
Compliance & Safety Assurance
  • Ensure all site activities comply with safety regulations, building codes, and company standards.
  • Support enforcement of safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a zero‑incident culture.
  • Participate in site safety meetings and help promote safe work practices across all trades.
  • Identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
Resource & Budget Management
  • Assist in monitoring daily site activities to support efficient use of labour, materials, and equipment.
  • Help reduce waste and prevent scheduling or material inefficiencies.
  • Coordinate with site leadership to ensure timely delivery and proper allocation of materials.
Project Communication & Reporting
  • Provide regular updates to the Site Superintendent and project team on progress, risks, and site conditions.
  • Participate in weekly site meetings and contribute to planning discussions.
  • Maintain clear documentation of site activities, inspections, and deficiencies.
  • Support transparent communication between trades, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Post‑secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in residential or light commercial construction is preferred.
  • Experience in a site coordination, foreman, or assistant superintendent role is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with multi‑family or production home building environments is an advantage.

Technical

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site coordination, and building practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety standards and inspection processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse site teams.
  • Detail‑oriented mindset with a strong focus on quality and accountability.
  • Problem‑solving ability with a proactive approach to resolving site issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding construction environment.
