Civil/Electrical Supervisor - Traffic Signals

Construction Operations, 285220 – 61st Avenue SE, Rocky View, Alberta, Canada

Responsibilities
  • Reinforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards while ensuring safe and productive completion of work.
  • Supervise and coordinate civil construction crews involved in traffic signal and underground utility installations.
  • Plan site activities, manpower requirements, equipment allocation, and material logistics.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and utility representatives as required.
  • Maintain daily communication with Project Managers regarding project progress, schedule, manpower, and field issues.
  • Read and interpret civil and electrical drawings, specifications, utility standards, and contract documents.
  • Ensure projects are completed in accordance with municipal standards, project specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Monitor and update project schedules, milestones, and daily production activities.
  • Conduct site safety meetings, hazard assessments, and assist with incident investigations when required.
  • Provide mentorship, leadership, and coaching to field personnel and promote a positive team environment.
  • Maintain detailed field documentation including daily reports, material tracking, site quantities, deficiencies, and as built information.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and turnover packages.
  • Coordinate inspections, locates, utility crossings, and traffic accommodation requirements.
  • Promote quality workmanship and ensure deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction practices related to traffic signals, underground shallow utilities, roadworks, and municipal infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership experience supervising field crews in a construction environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, planning, and resource management.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations, municipal standards, and utility coordination requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills including tablets, mobile devices, and digital field reporting systems.
  • Ability to lead by example and promote safe work practices at all times.
Assets /

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in traffic signal construction, street lighting, or ITS infrastructure.
  • Electrical construction experience or traffic signal electrical experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with underground shallow utility installations including communications, distribution power, and duct bank systems.
  • Previous municipal or roadway infrastructure project experience.
  • CSTS, Ground Disturbance, First Aid, or other industry certifications considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
