Fortis Mining, Engineering, & Manufacturing is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Underground Mining Construction Supervisor for a Potash project at the Colonsay mine site. This project is anticipated to run continuously, with a possibility of extension for this and other upcoming projects. You will need to be available for a 4-5-5-4 rotation. What You’ll Be Doing
Safely and efficiently carry out the day-to-day project activities to support the continuous operations of site-specific belt reclamation, belt extension, and underground construction projects
Maintain safety and environmentally sound operating conditions within equipment design parameters
Manage and direct personnel, and assist with employee training and qualifications
Provide work direction to the team as well as timely and constructive feedback to ensure employees have a clear understanding of their work, roles, business goals, and performance standards
Manage performance issues when necessary
Develop and coach employees to retain and grow organizational talent, and support employees in their career development
Facilitate ongoing communication to ensure proper and efficient contract operation, allocation and resources, safety and environmental
Liaison between management, shift operations, and maintenance
Work with operations and maintenance to troubleshoot and address operational problems in the rehab area to maximize production and safety
Conduct audits and inspections
Review and authorize work permits
What You Bring To The Table
Minimum five (5) years of mining operations or mining construction experience
Outstanding record of leading teams safely and efficiently
Ability to work with people, coordinate functions with other departments and contractors
Demonstrated ability to lead the crew in collaboration with the client’s needs
Valid ticket to supervise underground as per Saskatchewan mine regulations or eligible to request certification
Valid First Aid/ CPR certificates
Valid WHMIS and SCOT
Ability to work both day and night shifts
Must display credibility and integrity to maintain the respect of superiors, subordinates, and peers
Impeccable safety record
Knowledge of commonly used software packages including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and desktop process control software
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Strong time-management skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to handle competing priorities simultaneously; work well under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
Strong problem identification and resolution skills
Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, forklift, fall protection, etc.)
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
