Purpose:
The Communications Coordinator is a creative storyteller and content creator responsible for developing and implementing impactful communication materials that elevate the University of Saskatchewan’s reputation and priorities. This role focuses on producing engaging multimedia content—including video, photography, alt stories and social media assets—while supporting media communications. All work aligns with the University Relations strategic communications and social media plan.
The Communications Coordinator reports to the Communications Specialist on the central university communication unit. The incumbent is a member of the Office of the Vice-President University Relations.
Nature of Work: This position is ideal for someone who thrives on creating compelling content and bringing ideas to life across digital platforms. You will conceptualize, produce, and edit videos, capture photography, and craft stories that resonate with diverse audiences. The role also involves occasional media support, including drafting news stories and press releases. We are looking for someone who is flexible, able to get up to speed quickly, able to juggle multiple projects, effective at building relationships and working in a collaborative team environment.
Consequence of error is significant to the reputation and profile of the university. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
Education: An undergraduate university degree, preferably in communications, journalism, marketing or related field. Experience with photography or video would also be considered an asset. An equivalent level of education and experience may be considered.
Experience: One to three years of directly related experience in related areas of communications and marketing. Knowledge of the University of Saskatchewan, the academic environment and/or advancement would be an asset.
