Responsibilities
  • To work with faculty, students, staff and clients of Institute programs, as well as the public. To facilitate access to library resources and to develop information literacy skills in library users.
  • Duties will include assisting with catalogue and database searches for materials (physical and digital), genealogical research, locating materials on the shelves and in electronic collections.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues, and APA citations, as well as circulation of materials, dealing with general inquiries in person and over the phone, re-shelving of physical materials, collection of statistics, and other duties assigned.
  • This position involves inventory of resources, borrowing and retrieving resources from the library, as well as purchasing and finalizing the coding of the resources with the direct supervisor.
  • It involves working with students to ensure they can operate MEESCAN as well as supporting their research when requested.
  • Attending library meetings and professional development. The position involves supporting the SUNTEP office as well as supporting student functions and events such as Open Houses and Indigenous Student Experience Days.
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will understand cataloguing of resources, doing inventory and purchasing.
  • Must understand how to navigate library sites, software with updated library software and coordinate borrowing schedules.
  • Current or former SUNTEP students will be given priority.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, highly motivated and the ability to work with individuals from various equity groups and with little supervision is required.
