Position: SW 346-006 SW Practice I - Fall 2026 Face-to-Face

Position Summary

The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following Saskatoon in-person course during the Fall 2026 semester:

SW 346 – Social Work Practice I
This course examines the principles, concepts and skills related to social work with individuals, families, and groups, providing a theoretical framework for generalist social work practice.

The semester class period is from September 2026 to December 2026 with the final exam period running from December 9 to 22, 2026.

Sessional Lecturers that are teaching in-person classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester in-person on campus.

Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:
  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
  • Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester.
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
  • Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Master of Social Work (MSW)
  • Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
  • Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
