JOB SUMMARY

:
An itinerant position supporting students with Blind or Visual Impairment within Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. Under the supervision of the teacher on assignment (who supports students with visual impairments), duties will include: instruction of Braille Literacy to students with a visual impairment, onsite preparation of materials in braille (transcribing), service to students with visual impairments who access curriculum through use of assistive technology, supporting the implementation of the specific skills included in the Expanded Core Curriculum including Orientation and Mobility, and internal PD and training with assistive technology as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be extended to applicants who possess or are in progress of completing Unified English Braille (UEB) Certification to comply with Braille Literacy Canada Standards

A minimum of 2-3 years experience working with students with visual impairments

Experience with the braille code and UEB Math would be considered an asset

Commitment to the ideals and principles of Catholic education

Professional studies and training beyond Grade 12 is required

Technological aptitude and competency considered an asset with varying platforms, devices and software (IOS, Microsoft accessibility features, Splashtop, Zoomtext, Jaws) to provide appropriate support to developed student programs

Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Ability to demonstrate initiative and take direction

Good communication skills

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

As per Collective Agreement.

3.0 hrs/day

To begin August 31, 2026 (and continue to June 29, 2027, or earlier if the needs of the division change)

Salary range - $25.60- $30.25 per hour
