Canada Research Chair Tier 2 Position - Tenure Track Assistant Professor       The College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment as a   Tier II Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Precision Oral and Systemic Microbiome - Host Interactions.
CRCs are among Canada’s most distinguished personnel awards. Further information about the CRC program can be found on the Government of Canada’s CRC website (  ) including eligibility criteria.
Candidate profile
The CRC Tier II will lead an innovative research program in the College of Dentistry. Evidence suggests that the oral microbiome may hold valuable information for better understanding influential factors in the origin, progression, and prevention of prevalent oral diseases such as dental caries, periodontitis, and oral cancers.  The CRC will be expected to lead a research program that increases the understanding of alterations to the oral microbiome (spatial and temporal), the scope and scale of the host interactions, and the impact of environmental insults on the oral ecosystem.

The ultimate goal is to exploit the oral microbiome to alleviate the impact of challenging oral conditions that affect so many people worldwide. A successful candidate is expected to lead a vibrant, externally funded research program that attracts graduate students and results in a strong record of research output.
Candidate qualifications
Accomplished scientist or clinician-scientist with a DDS/DMD or foreign equivalent and doctoral degree and postdoctoral training in a related field.
Substantial track record in oral, dental and craniofacial research related to precision oral and systemic microbiome - host interactions, including success in national and international grant funding opportunities, and knowledge dissemination via publications in high impact journals.
Commitment to interdisciplinary collaborations both within and beyond their organization to expand the scope and impact of health research.
Strong leadership abilities to bolster the research environment in the college, including team initiatives, international collaborations, and HQP recruitment and undergraduate and graduate supervision.
Tier II CRC are intended for exceptional emerging scholars (i.e., applicants must have been active researchers in their field for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination). Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree may have their eligibility for a Tier II chair assessed through the CRC Program’s Tier II justification process (  ) if they feel there are career breaks, such as maternity, parental, extended sick leave, or clinical training, that may affect their eligibility.
