Volunteer Children's Reading Guide

Join as a Foundations Learning volunteer to strengthen reading strategies through the Spark program. You’ll receive 3.5 hours of training on effective reading methods and resources. Volunteers are matched with two elementary students, working individually for 30 minutes each, twice a week over an 8-week term, available in fall, winter, spring, and summer.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one reading support to two students
• Attend a training session on reading strategies
• Use provided resources throughout the program
• Commit to a schedule of two sessions per week
• Option for both in-person and online volunteering
Requirements:
• Must be 18 years or older
• Complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
• Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 8
Support young readers in Saskatoon by becoming a Spark volunteer and enhance children’s confidence in reading.
