This part-time position covers two terms, engaging students in meaningful learning experiences. The course is integral to the Indian Teacher Education Program, aimed at preparing First Nations teachers to meet evolving educational priorities. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and cooperative teaching methods.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver lectures on literature and composition each week
• Conduct tutorials for a cohort of 40 students
• Integrate Indigenous perspectives in all teaching materials
• Assess student progress through assignments and feedback
• Participate in preparation and marking days for effective teaching
Requirements:
• Degree in English with teaching experience
• Knowledge of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures
• Familiarity with Indigenous pedagogies and student engagement
• Experience with mature student cohorts and peer-to-peer learning
• Valid driver’s license for off-campus instruction
