The Department of English invites applications to teach ENG (87) Literature and Composition during the 2026–2027 Regular Session, covering Term One (September to December) and Term Two (January to April). Course Number: 87. CRN: 80877, 20665. Delivery Mode: lecture course; schedule:
Tuesday and Thursday 10:00am–11:20am; tutorial Tuesday 1:00pm–2:20pm. Expected enrollment limit: 40.

Saskatoon.
This course is part of the Indian Teacher Education Program (ITEP), a four‑year program for First Nations students pursuing a Bachelor of Education. The aim is to prepare First Nations teachers to meet changing educational needs and objectives.
Qualifications- Minimum of a degree in English with teaching experience; a degree is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture and the socio‑economic and pedagogical factors associated with teaching these students.
- Familiarity with Indigenous perspectives and research methodologies as they relate to your discipline, and the development of skills for student success.
- Familiarity with Indigenous pedagogies and student and community priorities.
- Experience teaching using cooperative and peer‑to‑peer learning methods in small student cohorts.
- Experience teaching mature student cohorts and students with non‑standard K‑12 preparation in relevant disciplines.
- Knowledge of factors affecting educational legacies in Saskatchewan’s Indigenous communities.
- Intercultural competence and commitment to pedagogic praxis (reflection & reflexive adaptation of teaching).
A valid driver’s license is required for any off‑campus courses. Appointment periods include additional days to accommodate preparation and marking time.
