Sessional Lecturer, INDG 210, Indigenous Studies (ITEP – Beardy's & Okemasis CN)

The Department of Indigenous Studies in the College of Arts and Science, the Indian Teacher Education Program (ITEP) in the College of Education, and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning invite applications for an Out-of-Scope Sessional Lecturer to teach the following community‑based courses during the following session(s).

    This course will be offered as a Lecture (Live in-person on Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation).

    Schedule:

    Alternating Tuesdays. Actual class times to be determined in consultation with the successful applicant at the discretion of program; 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. No evenings or weekends.

  • Location:

    Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation (approx. 1hr NE of Saskatoon, SK)
  • Qualifications: PhD or MA in Indigenous Studies or equivalent with a demonstrated background in Indigenous knowledge in the local, national, and international context. Demonstrated experience in one or more Indigenous Knowledge areas (food sovereignty, language & linguistic analyses, star knowledge, human-nonhuman animal relations, water protection, etc.). Previous experience teaching Indigenous Studies preferred. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to engaging with Indigenous ways of knowing and to fostering respectful, reciprocal learning environments.

    They must also possess knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture as well as indigenization and the decolonization of pedagogy to uplift and support Indigenous students.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for any off campus courses. Appointment periods include additional days in recognition of preparation and marking time required. Courses may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
