Student Language Camp Research and Operations Assistant  - Indigenous Language Camps

The First Nations University of Canada is seeking five Student Language Camp Research and Operations Assistants to support the planning, delivery, documentation, and completion of two Indigenous Language Camps. Working under the direction of the Project Lead, the successful candidates will assist with participant outreach, camp logistics, research support, administrative coordination, and on-site camp operations while working collaboratively with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, language instructors, and project team members.

This is a short-term student employment position of up to  300 hours , ending no later than  August 31, 2026 .

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

Assist with planning and coordinating Indigenous Language Camps.

Support participant recruitment, registration, outreach, and communications.

Assist with camp logistics, including scheduling, supplies, accommodations, transportation, and activity preparation.

Provide respectful support to Elders, Knowledge Keepers, language instructors, and participants.

Assist with participant orientation, attendance, and daily camp operations.

Help prepare and maintain safe, organized, and welcoming learning environments.

Assist with project documentation, participant feedback, and approved research activities.

Organize project records and support post-camp reporting and project close-out.

Work collaboratively with the project team to ensure successful camp delivery.

Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be enrolled in a post-secondary program, preferably in Indigenous Studies, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Experience working respectfully with Indigenous communities, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and cultural protocols is an asset. The successful candidate must be available to travel and provide on-site support during the language camps.

A valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s licence is considered an asset.
