Stat 100-501 – Elementary Statistics for Applications
An introduction to statistical methods; descriptive statistics; the normal distribution; basic techniques of statistical inference; confidence intervals and hypothesis tests for population means and proportions; simple linear regression; and one-way analysis of variance.
The semester is from January 6, 2027 to April 28, 2027 with the final exam period running from April 15, 2027 to April 28, 2027.
- Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
- Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
- Delivering lectures throughout the term at the time, days, and location set by the University.
- Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
- Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, in class, and through email.
- Other duties as assigned.
Master of Science (MSc)
- Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
- Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
Instructor must be based in Saskatoon
Physical DemandsPay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours
This course is offered on Mondays, 8:30 am – 11:15 am
The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach remote via zoom (synchronous) for each of the lectures and provide regular weekly office hours for students.
Delivery method, days and times are subject to change.
Off-Campus Location is Saskatoon, SK.
