Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking an Indigenous Engineering Intern to be based out of our Saskatoon, SK office.

This is a temporary position expected to last 4 months with possibility for extension.

AECOM’s Blooming Program strives to create opportunities for Indigenous Youth. The program focuses on the development of Indigenous Youth in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) through internships, mentorships, capacity development and post-graduate career opportunities. AECOM offers a wide variety of disciplines across our Canadian offices including planning & design, engineering, engagement and communications, marketing, economic development, architecture and more.

Under the supervision of an experienced engineer, the position will provide a variety of experience ranging from project management, design and engineering of municipal infrastructure, and field work, including:

  • Help conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Assist in data review, creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Perform work in accordance with an agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  • Learn use of survey equipment such as GPS and total station to assist technologist with occasional field assignments including surveys and inspections.

  • Potential to work in remote areas of Northern Saskatchewan.

  • Review of project drawings and specifications.

  • Observe, inspect, and record work on-site to ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Preparation of safey plans.

  • Assist with construction contract administration including preparing change orders or reviewing submittals.

  • Attend client meetings with project manager and prepare notes and action items.

  • Qualifications

  • Must currently be enrolled in a relevant Civil Engineering program.

  • Must have completed at least 2 years of study in their relevant program.

  • Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license.

  • Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $24 to $28.
