Job Description

AECOM ’s Saskatoon Water group is seeking highly motivated individuals to support numerous Civil Infrastructure projects throughout Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate will gain experience in a variety of Consulting Engineering duties. Specific duties will vary depending on project demands and individual skills and experience. Project services may be provided individually or as part of a larger project team.

All AECOM employees are required to carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner. Candidates should expect a variety of experiences ranging from field work to design and engineering of municipal infrastructure.

Common Office Assignments Include:

  • Support CAD/design members for various civil and water infrastructure projects

  • Assist in data review, creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Perform work in accordance with an agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  • Common Field Assignments Include:

  • Conduct topographic and construction surveying using GPS survey equipment.

  • Conduct construction supervision and inspections of municipal infrastructure projects.

  • Measure and track quantities for payment.

  • Complete calculations to ensure the accuracy of our designs and identify the need for adjustments.

  • Complete daily construction reports.

  • Review of project drawings and specifications.

  • Preparation of safety plans.

  • Assist with construction contract administration including preparing change orders or reviewing submittals.

  • Attend client meetings with project manager and prepare notes and action items.

  • Ensure the projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner.

  • Work with and maintaining a positive relationship with clients and contractor.

  • Field work commonly involves travel to remote areas of Northern Saskatchewan, shift work, and long hours.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering or Civil Technologies program.

  • Candidates must also possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Accuracy with details is essential.

  • Familiar with materials testing procedures and construction coordination services.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and an understanding of CAD standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings.

  • Experience collecting survey data and performing construction layout surveys using GPS, Total Station, and/or conventional survey equipment is preferred.

  • Experience working around mobile heavy equipment and farm implements is considered an asset.

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $26 to $28.
