Phasor Engineering Inc. is a multi‑disciplinary engineering consulting company that provides engineering design services for utility companies, industrial companies, and municipalities.
Role SummaryPhasor Engineering is currently seeking a Field Civil Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Group for field work on a rotation of 20/8 days. Reporting to the Civil Field Services Manager, this position will be responsible for leading and executing foundation projects.
Responsibilities- Lead and execute foundation projects.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Interpret geotechnical reports and apply findings in the field.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC processes and documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Make sound decisions in a fast‑paced field environment.
- Travel to project sites and work in remote or outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
- 2–5+ years of relevant field experience in civil construction, utilities, or infrastructure projects (experience in transmission, substations, or energy projects is an asset).
- Strong understanding of civil construction practices, including earthworks, foundations, grading, drainage, and access road construction.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Ability to interpret geotechnical reports and apply findings in the field.
- Familiarity with quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC) processes and documentation.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast‑paced field environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D is considered an asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and work in remote or outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Civil or Structural Engineering Tech / EIT with 5–10 years’ experience in civil earthworks soil testing.
- Field soil testing experience and willingness to spend 90% of the time in the field.
- Project Coordinator experience.
- Safety tickets:
Lab Compaction (SPMD/SPDD). - Field compaction testing (Nucellar densometer).
- Additional lab soil tests:
Hydrometer, C , Shear Test. - Additional field tests:
Electrical Resistivity, corrosivity, ASTM, CSA. - Experience with asphalt and aggregate.
