Onsite Wastewater Engineer / Project Manager – Ontario
Base pay range: CA$/yr - CA$/yr
A well-established consulting and engineering firm in Ontario is seeking an experienced Onsite Wastewater Engineer / Project Manager to join their Water & Wastewater group. This role is ideal for a technical leader with strong experience in onsite sewage system design, hydrogeology, rural land development, and environmental engineering.
You’ll lead projects end-to-end, manage client relationships, provide senior technical oversight, and mentor junior staff across multiple Ontario offices.
Key Responsibilities- Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Oversee and mentor engineers, geoscientists, technologists, and technicians
- Conduct and supervise field investigations in compliance with HSE and regulatory requirements
- Analyze hydrogeological and wastewater data and prepare technical interpretationsli>
- Prepare and review engineering evaluation reports, design reports, drawings, and specifications
- Design onsite wastewater/septic systems (small and large subsurface disposal systems)
- Complete mass balance and nutrient dilution calculations for Reasonable Use Criteria
- Prepare environmental approvals documentation (ECA submissions)
- Ensure project delivery meets schedule, budget, and quality expectations
Support client retention, relationship development, and business growth - Manage billing, project financials, and technical quality assurance
- Travel to project sites and meetings as required
- 8+ years of consulting experience in Ontario
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources, or Wastewater Engineering
- Licensed P.Eng. (in good standing) in Ontario
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code Part 8 and MECP wastewater design guidelines
- Experience with hydrogeological tools (Aquifer Test, MODFLOW, etc.) is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong report writing, data analysis, and client-facing abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staff
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
Work may be based in any of the following Ontario offices:
Barrie, Kingston, Whitby, Peterborough.
