Job Summary
This position is within the Engineering Services section of Saskatoon Water and performs professional engineering and project management for capital projects relating to water and wastewater treatment and remote facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct studies for expansion and asset management needs of the water and wastewater treatment and remote facilities operations and of the solids handling and disposal systems, including concept design and cost estimation.
- Assist with preparing the five‑year capital budget, including revising cost estimates and the equipment replacement list.
- Prepare technical Terms of Reference for capital projects, including preliminary documents, drawings and calculations required to define the type and size of current facilities.
- Assist with the evaluation of electrical, mechanical, process and construction drawings and specifications as prepared by consultants.
- Participate in the tendering process for capital projects, including preparing front‑end documents and acting as a liaison between consultants, contractors and the Purchasing Department.
- Act as a liaison between consultants, contractors and operations staff for capital projects during construction, start‑up, commissioning and warranty work.
- Conduct process and operating problem studies and environmental investigations, including preparing reports and making recommendations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Degree in a related engineering field and possession of, or eligibility for, membership as a qualified engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) or an engineering licensee registered with APEGS and possessing a scope of practice related to water and wastewater treatment.
- Four‑to‑six years’ experience in design and construction in the water and wastewater field.
- Knowledge of project management processes and practices.
- Knowledge of the theoretical aspects of water and wastewater treatment.
- Ability to analyze, evaluate and prepare a wide variety of reports, plans and specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Skill in operating a computer with the current versions of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD 2009 software.

Salary Range: $86,211.84 to $ CAD per annum (2023 rates)
