Senior Bridge Engineer Lead
Saskatoon, SK

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer Lead with a strong background in construction engineering in the infrastructure sector to join our team, based out of our Saskatoon office. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to plan, coordinate, execute, and manage the design of a variety of structural projects. You will work in a team environment, preparing structural engineering designs and related documents.

You will work on a variety of projects helping our team of engineers, EITs, designers and project managers.

A Day in the Life
Reporting to the Operations Leader for Saskatchewan your key objectives are:

Support in the development of project proposals.

Foster positive relationships with existing clients and develop strong relationships with new clients.

Lead preliminary to detailed design of infrastructure structures. This includes wood, concrete and steel bridges, culverts, concrete foundations, steel structures, connection details, excavation and shoring plans, lift plans, etc.

Carry out project cost estimates, complex analysis and report generation.

Collaborate, organize and mentor a project team consisting of bridge engineers, EITs and designers.

Develop strategies to repair, rehabilitate, or replace existing structures.

Perform new structural designs, perform bridge load ratings, evaluate existing structures, and supervise team members to perform onsite inspections.

Interface directly with project managers (PMs), team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations.

Ensure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets and with high-quality standards.

Proactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues with the PMs as they arise.

Provide support, mentoring, and guidance to other structural team members.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, specialized in structural bridge engineering.

Registered as a P.Eng. in Saskatchewan.

10+ years of relevant experience in bridge engineering and infrastructure engineering within a consulting environment.

Resource road bridge and rail bridge experience is a requirement.

Must have Second Level Supervisor qualifications with the Ministry of Highways and Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities.

Senior PM qualifications with the Ministry of Highways and Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities is also an asset.

Experience with inspection and reporting on rail bridges is an asset.

Experience with finite element analysis of structures, dynamic analysis, and reasonable knowledge in seismic design.

Experience working with national, provincial and industry design codes and standards (CSA S6, AREMA, ETC).

Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members and clients in a multi-disciplined environment.

Technical competence and strong attention to detail.

Proven leadership and mentoring ability.

Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and priorities.
