Research Assistant, Nursing and Healthcare Systems Research

In the appointment of Research Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will include conducting literature reviews (including scoping and systematic reviews) related to violence in the healthcare sector, nurse burnout, mental health, social equity, and healthcare systems; assisting with the preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and other scholarly outputs; supporting data collection activities such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups; assisting with qualitative and quantitative data analysis using appropriate software (, NVivo, SPSS, or similar);

managing references using reference management software (, End Note, Zotero); providing administrative and organizational support for research activities; and undertaking other research support and assistance duties as required.

Your work will be in research assistance office space at the Saskatoon campus, and you will report to Dr. Rozina Somani.

Hours:

This is a casual position, so hours cannot be scheduled or guaranteed; they are to be arranged with your faculty supervisor. For this position, you can anticipate approximately 10 hours per week.

Duration of Employment: Anticipated start date of April 1, 2026, for approximately 6 months.

)

  • Previous experience assisting with academic or applied research is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience conducting literature reviews, including scoping and/or systematic reviews, and using reference management software (, End Note, Zotero)
  • Experience with data collection methods, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups
  • Experience or familiarity with qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis software (, NVivo, SPSS, or similar)
  • Familiarity with research ethics and informed consent processes
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Scholarly interest in one or more of the following areas: violence in the healthcare sector, nurse burnout, mental health, social equity, and healthcare systems research
  • You must be registered in a graduate program.
